What is Numerology?

Technically, Numerology is the metaphysical science and study of number symbolism and mysticism. Originating ‘officially’ with Pythagoras (who was the first guy to write it down, really), Numerology is the practice of examining the symbolic nature of numbers as a way to describe, investigate, and learn about who we are, what we want, what we’re meant for, and where we’re heading.

In words that we can understand and relate to: Numerology is one of the ways in which we can gain understanding of who we are, what we’re destined for, and what stands in our way. Think of it as a cosmic personality profile, that illuminates the factors that determine a person’s personality, strengths and talents, obstacles, inner needs, emotional reactions, and ways of dealing with others. Whether you use Numerology to examine your life, take advantage of unexplored opportunities, confirm your talents, or simply figure out where to go next, Numerology can be a penetrating tool that helps you understand yourself and your loved ones better. Numerology presents the whole picture, revealing all the diverse parts of your personality and how they come together to create the person you are. With this complete view, you are able to make the most of your strengths (and better avoid your pitfalls).

What do you mean by number symbolism & mysticism?

The symbolism that gave birth to numbers, and to our universal understanding of numbers, has its origins in the very beginnings of language and our understanding of what it is to be human. We are symbolic beings. We relate to others and to our world by continually equating what we meet to what we already know. Once upon a time, we described numbers and quantities through visual symbols. We described the number three by showing or drawing a three-lobed leaf; the number four as the seasons, and the directions we traveled – the four corners of the world.

These symbols represented aspects of our lives, as well. If you asked 100 people to describe what the number one meant or suggested to them, they would arrive at a similar family of answers: individuality, leadership, creativity, self-reliance, standing alone, independent. The number two suggests what happens when we add a partner to the one, and makes us think of partnership, sharing, communication, balance, and duality. And so on…

But, how can numbers tell me who I am?

Each number suggests for us some shade or aspect of our human experience. Numerology grows out of humanity’s deep symbolic knowing and manner of understanding life and the world. The belief is that, before we are born, we choose the vibrations, aptitudes, and talents we will need for the journey that we hope to have. None of us are so incomplex that we are able to be described with only one number – we are palettes, we are circles of wholeness and depth, we are cyclical phoenixes who die and are reborn over and over in our brief lives.

Each number represents a spectrum of experience. For example, the one will have leadership tendencies – but the free will and choice enters in here: will you be a kindly king, or a dastardly dictator? Both are leaders, and the one encompasses all the shades of being in the leadership spectrum. It is that way for all numbers. The two is about partnership – the shades of possibility for expression here include codependency, inability to be in partnership, neediness, healthy partnership, etc. So, as you encounter your numbers for the first time, bear in mind that synonyms and antonyms become very important – how will you choose to express or repress the energies given to you?

What separates you from the hundreds of sites offering Numerology readings?

I analyze each person’s information personally – nothing about the chart is computer-generated, except for me sitting at the keyboard and typing my analysis into a blank word document. I calculate each equation personally, and each analysis is created by a real, live human being – me. Many of the Numerology offerings out there on the web are created by a computer – and I’ve seen the results. A computer is incapable of reconciling the many, sometimes contradictory, and complex parts of a human being. We don’t make logical sense – and that is what a computer deals in.

I see Numerology as one more lens through which we can view the self. I entered into the study and practice of Numerology from a spiritual standpoint – if we can spread out all the parts of who we are, and look at them from a new angle, we have the ability to come to new realizations about who we are, our potential, our inner demons, our talents, and the ways in which we’re blessed. I use my intuition when compiling a chart – a sense and knowing that I believe we are all led by.

I see each client and their journey as an opportunity to partner with them – to be, if for a moment, a guide on the path. I spend between 15 to 25 hours on each complete chart, not including the meeting with the client. And when you leave that session, you walk out with a Numerology Profile that you can go home, sit down with, read and understand. You leave with a sense of new understanding of who you are and the travels you’re meant for in this world. You leave with a book, all about you.

So, who are you? Who did you come here hoping to be, what did you hope to find? What challenges did you long to face, and what beauty did you hope to create?
